Education builds a strong foundation for a nation, and technology-based education is essential for a country like ours. Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet has started its journey to create new opportunities for higher studies, research, and development for creating employment opportunities and socio-economic development of our country. Shahjalal University of Science and Technology is playing a very remarkable role to upgrade higher studies, research and development which will be compatible with the era of globalization. The new curriculum of international standards has been developed. Our graduates will play a vital art in the development of our country through their research in science, arts, and engineering and will also reduce the dependency of the sector on foreign expertise.

A development project has been undertaken for “Further development of the Shahjajal University of Science and Technology (2nd Phase)” by enhancing the physical facilities of the University.

The objective of the project is to:

• Strengthening and increasing the capacity of the University
• To create the opportunity of higher education & research in the branches of science, engineering and social science
• To develop physical infrastructure facilities in conformity with academic expansion

The client has adopted the Fixed Budget approach in conformity with PPR 2008 for procuring the consultant for the subject assignment. The client has followed the guidelines and maintained transparency throughout the entire process of procurement of consultant. After a thorough and rigorous evaluation of the proposals submitted by 07 (seven) most esteemed consulting firms of Bangladesh, the maximum number of firms that are allowed for shortlisting by the PPR 2008 for the RFP stage, the client has qualified Engineers’ Consortium Limited as the consultant of the subject project.

The qualified consultant was then given a notification of award and invitation for the negotiation meeting with the client at client’s office. The meeting was held on October 19, 2021. After thorough discussion on the consultant’s capacity to deliver in conformity with the proposed work plan and experts in the submitted proposal and a few remarks on the same, the client has concluded the meeting with a decision to award the assignment to Engineers’ Consortium Limited.
